Frequently Asked Questions
—
What kind of clients do you work with?
I specialize in supporting trans/cis women and nonbinary folks who are navigating depression, anxiety, trauma, neurodivergence and relationship concerns. I additionally enjoy working with folks who experience obsessions (unwanted, distressing thoughts) and/or compulsions (behaviors or mental acts in response to obsessions).
Do you take insurance?
Great question! I don’t take insurance and there are several reasons for that. #1 is because of the limitations of my current licensure. Additionally and more importantly, because of the restrictions that insurance companies place on therapy, both in terms of how treatment is structured and what can be shared. Working privately allows us to move at your pace, focus on what feels most important, and maintain a higher level of confidentiality (our work will be between me and you. Not me, you, and an insurance company). That said, I do accept HSA and FSA as forms of payment and can provide superbills. More information can be found in “Services and Rates”.
What are your sliding scale rates?
As stated in Services and Rates tab, I offer a sliding scale for a limited number of clients in an effort to make therapy more accessible. The sliding scale ranges from $65-$100. This is subject to change. Of course, all changes will be discussed prior to being implemented.
How will I know therapy is working?
A lot of the time therapy “working” isn’t so straightforward. Often, progress in therapy shows up as increased awareness of thoughts, feelings, behaviors, patterns, needs, and boundaries. Sometimes therapy working can be uncomfortable, too, and I’m not promising that you will never feel difficult emotions ever again. Effective therapy isn’t about eliminating difficult emotions. It’s more about developing a greater understanding of yourself, responding rather than reacting, and feeling more equipped to handle what comes up.
Can you see clients who live outside of Madison?
Yes! I am happy to work with anyone living in Wisconsin.
Can you see clients who live outside of Wisconsin?
Unfortunately at this time due to licensing restrictions I am only able to see clients who currently reside in the state of WI.
What are your credentials/experience?
I currently am licensed as an Advanced Practice Social Worker (APSW) which is an in-training license. I finished my Master’s in Social Work in 2024 with an emphasis in clinical mental health. I have a few months left of clinical hours to complete before I can sit for the Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) exam.
